This award winning Bronco has been in over 75 magazines world wide. It is a down size of the Monster Truck. The Bronco started as a 1970 Bronco that was Bone Stock and bought for $1,750.00 for my grandparents in 1985. Through the years the Bronco has been changed.

As part of the Ford Truck Image Team, we take great pride in building some of the best Ford trucks. When people first look at the truck, they are amazed to see that it is only two wheel drive. EXTERIOR
To clear the massive 39 inch Mickey Thompson Baja tires on a two wheel drive took over nine inches of lift. The first three inches were accomplished with a Superlift body lift; the next six inches came with custom coils, I-beam drop down brackets and radius arms. For the turning clearance we replaced the stock bumper for the Reaper Racing bumper and gained five inches. Custom Creations dual shock hoops in front and dual brackets in the rear hold a total of eight Superlift/Superide shocks. The Baja tires are mounted on American Racing Atlas series 160s to keep the front end from hopping two Superlift steering stabilizers were used. The rear Dana 70 axle is protected with a chrome Go Rhino skid plate and truss bar. When the time came to do the suspension I was out racing for a three-week tour so I turned to Chris at Custom Creations in Gardena California to do the install.
ENGINE
Suspension: 8” Superlift leaf spring front and back a 2” spring hanger drop in front and a 3” block in back to level the truck. Two Superlift shocks per tire with dual steering stabilizers. Off Road Unlimited/Extreme Toys ladder bars, front shock hoops, relocated truck arm, dual rear shock mounts and aluminum differential covers. Go Rhino skid plates and truss bars. All one off machining work was done by The Boyz Shop in Menifee, CA. With 10” of lift we are able to run 39” Mickey Thompson Baja Tires with Mickey Thompson wheels 16” X 10” to keep the tires in good shape we had Precision Alignment mount and balance and align the truck.
Engine: Ford V-10 triton motor with a Whipple Supercharger, Borla headers and exhaust system and Borla air filter. Superchips Performance chip, and dual Optima batteries. Interior:
The stock seats were replaced with leather seats from Katzkin then added a TV/VCR in a custom console to help make long drives seen not as long. Dash Design added more wood grain to the dash and door panels. Trenz added their door mounted aluminum skins and thresh holds. Upholstery work was done by Kents Upholstery in Menifee, CA. Exterior: It starts off with its Obsession Racing PPG bright yellow. Go Rhino 3” chrome ladder rack and extra long nerf bars, chrome tail light guards, Line-X bed liner, Lincoln Electric welder and generator. Ford tool box, APC clear lights front and back, C.R. Lawrence power rear windows, Reaper Racing bottom door covers and Reaper Racing front bumper with four Pro Comp Explorer 9” lights, 12,000 pound Ramsey Winch behind the front bumper, 9,000 pound hitch mount in the rear. Stull Billet grills and tinted windows.
Obsession Racing first built this truck for the SEMA 2000 show. The Ford Motor Company had the Super Duty in their booth as the (Power Professional). We received the truck May 2000 and worked hand in hand with the Ford motor on how it was to be built. It had a 6 inch Superlift suspension dual shock hoops in the front (ORU), dual steering stabilizers (Custom Creations), Confer differential covers front and back, Go Rhino skid plates and truss 36” Mickey Thompson tires, American Racing wheels. The truck was all white with chrome Go Rhino long nerf bars, custom ladder rack, and bed-mounted toolbox, Lincoln Ect. Welder, Banshee front bumper with four Pro Comp lights, Stull Billet grill, APC clear corner lights, chrome taillights, guards and chrome sway bars. The motor is a V-10 with a Whipple supercharger, Borla stainless steel headers, exhaust system and a Superchips performance chip. The interior was outfitted with Katskin leather seats, 9-inch TV./VCR, coverlay floor mats and trim in walnut wood. After Ford was done showing the truck we were able to do what we wanted. It was painted in Obsession Yellow, 10 inch Superlift springs, ORU truck arm shock hoops, ladder bars, sway bar drops, rear dual shock mounts, 40 inch Mickey Thompson tires, 10 Superlift shocks. We think the truck is much more eye catching now. F-150 SUPERCREW (pics) Our F-150 Supercrew is set up as a pre-runner with a Fabtech six inch lift, Performance Accessories three inch body lift, 35” Mickey Thompson tires, Alcoa wheels, Fabtech front bumper, Stull Industries Billet Grill, APC clear corner lights, custom paint, custom color Line-X bed liner with spare tire mounted in bed, Go Rhino chrome side bars and tail light guards (not in photo), Superchips Performance Chip, Gibson Exhaust, K&N filter system, full sound system, plus TV Game Boy with all leather seats. Still has more to come since photo was taken, such as suspension parts and more motor dress up.

When working with the Ford Image Team you are expected to build trucks that appeal to everyone. When we took possession, we had three weeks before the SEMA Show to complete the Excursion. The first week Borla Exhaust used it to prototype their cat back system. The paint shop (L&G Enterprises) took it from there and had it for a week and a half. With only three days left before the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Obsession Racing turned to Chris at Custom Creations in Gardena, California to help complete our Excursion.
The first thing on out to do list was to disassemble the front suspension, remount the coil housing, fit our custom coil, radius arms and drop down brackets and reassemble mount front tires. Now we knew where the front end would sit. Then it was time to match the rear suspension so our Excursion will sit level. This was done by using a Superlift 2 1/2 inch block from a Super Duty and Superlift 79 Bronco long add-a-leaf. In the rear we used two Superlift Superide shocks in the stock location. The front was out fitted with Custom Creations front shock hoops that holds two Superlift shocks per side. This was all so we could clear our Mickey Thompson 36X14X16.5 Baja tires.
Now that the truck was level we used a four inch drop pitman arm to Finnish the steering, and sent the Excursion the Dave's Frame and Alignment in Huntington Beach, California to bend the I beams to get our front end back into proper alignment.
With one day left it was time to enhance the exterior and engine component, we started on the top with a Con-fer Roof Rack, Go Rhino tail light covers, nerf bars and skid plate. The front was out fitted with a Reaper Racing front bumper; with skid plate and 4 Dick Cepek Super Off Roader lights, Stull Billet Grill, APC clear running lights. Engine compartment was dressed up with Optima Batteries, Scosche cabling and connectors, Cool Flex Radiator hoses, Super Chip Performance chip and Borla Exhaust.
Our Escape was built to the theme of Escape to the outdoors. The first this we did was to build a two-inch front suspension lift so the Escape would sit level. With the added room, we are now able to turn to Mickey Thompson for 31-inch tires, Alcoa for 15 X 8” wheels. Then Go Rhino used the Escape to prototype their grill guard, nerf bars, and tail light covers (still on). T-Rex Billet Grill Explorer Pro Comp lights and Confer roof rack loaded with spare tire High Lift Jack and all the camping gear needed for a night on the trail. The motor also would get some up grades, Superchips Performance Chip, and a Borla Exhaust System. Inside we re-upholstered the stock seats and installed custom door panels and Coverlay Floor Mats. The truck is now being painted Obsession Yellow with silver pear graphics. (Not in picture).
