When working with the Ford Image Team you are expected to build trucks that appeal to everyone. When we took possession, we had three weeks before the SEMA Show to complete the Excursion. The first week Borla Exhaust used it to prototype their cat back system. The paint shop (L&G Enterprises) took it from there and had it for a week and a half. With only three days left before the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Obsession Racing turned to Chris at Custom Creations in Gardena, California to help complete our Excursion.
The first thing on out to do list was to disassemble the front suspension, remount the coil housing, fit our custom coil, radius arms and drop down brackets and reassemble mount front tires. Now we knew where the front end would sit. Then it was time to match the rear suspension so our Excursion will sit level. This was done by using a Superlift 2 1/2 inch block from a Super Duty and Superlift 79 Bronco long add-a-leaf. In the rear we used two Superlift Superide shocks in the stock location. The front was out fitted with Custom Creations front shock hoops that holds two Superlift shocks per side. This was all so we could clear our Mickey Thompson 36X14X16.5 Baja tires.
Now that the truck was level we used a four inch drop pitman arm to Finnish the steering, and sent the Excursion the Dave's Frame and Alignment in Huntington Beach, California to bend the I beams to get our front end back into proper alignment.
With one day left it was time to enhance the exterior and engine component, we started on the top with a Con-fer Roof Rack, Go Rhino tail light covers, nerf bars and skid plate. The front was out fitted with a Reaper Racing front bumper; with skid plate and 4 Dick Cepek Super Off Roader lights, Stull Billet Grill, APC clear running lights. Engine compartment was dressed up with Optima Batteries, Scosche cabling and connectors, Cool Flex Radiator hoses, Super Chip Performance chip and Borla Exhaust. |
